چکیده
A unique feature of seagrass among other ecosystem services is to have high phytoremediation potential that a cost-effective plant-based approach and environmentally friendly solution for metal contamination in coastal areas. The goal this study was assess the prospective Cu, Fe, Mn Zn Fiji Islands. Heavy content measured sediments tissues seagrasses Halophila ovalis , Halodule pinifolia uninervis test local-scale differences. local shows concentration sediment tissue significantly variable, regardless species type. Sedimentary obtained present seemed be lower than previous studies. results support H. good bioindicator since it accumulated up 5-fold more these metals compared species. • Trace highly significant tissues. accumulation indicates no moderate pollution. Bioaccumulation capacity higher

Arsenic and trace metal contents in sediment profiles from the Admiralty Bay, King George Island, Antarctica.
Admiralty Bay (Antarctica) hosts three scientific stations (Ferraz, Arctowski and Macchu Picchu), which require the use of fossil fuel as an energy source. Fossil fuels are also considered the main source of pollution in the area, representing important inputs of major pollutants (organic compounds) and trace metals and metalloids of environmental interest. Accordingly, this work presents the r...
متن کاملA Primer on Trace Metal- Sediment Chemistry
In most aquatic systems, concentrations of trace metals in suspended sediment and the top few centimeters of bottom sediment are far greater than concentrations of trace metals dissolved in the water column. Consequently, the distribution, transport, and availability of these constituents can not be intelligently evaluated, nor can their environmental impact be determined or predicted solely th...
متن کاملSediment mixing in the tropical Pacific and radiolarian stratigraphy
[1] The reworking of older radiolarian microfossils into near-surface sediments of the tropical Pacific has long been the source of confusion for the development of radiolarian stratigraphy and of puzzlement over the mechanism(s) that could effect such pervasive reworking. Widespread dissolution “pits” in the sediments of the tropical Pacific are believed to be associated with hydrothermal circ...
متن کاملReactive nitrogen over the tropical western Pacific: Influence from lightning and biomass burning during BIBLE A
[1] The Biomass Burning and Lightning Experiment phase A (BIBLE A) aircraft campaign was carried out over the tropical western Pacific in September and October 1998. During this period, biomass burning activity in Indonesia was quite weak. Mixing ratios of NOx and NOy in air masses that had crossed over the Indonesian islands within 3 days prior to the measurement (Indonesian air masses) were s...
متن کاملShort - term sediment trap fluxes from Chatham Rise , southwest Pacific Ocean
Sediment trap, nephelometer, and particulate matter (PM) data were collected in the vicinity of the Subtropical Convergence, north of Chatham Rise (42-43”S), southwest Pacific Ocean, in austral autumn 1992. Free-floating cylindrical sediment traps were deployed below the euphotic zone at 200-, 300-, and 500-m water depths. Increases in total mass flux and concomitant proportional decreases in o...
